CAD/Solidworks

The Solidworks sub-team drives design process of the build season and is responsible for making computer drawings of each individual piece of the robot, and assembling them to create a 3-dimensional picture of it. By creating “blueprints” of each of the individual pieces and dimensioning them, each sub-team easily sees the dimensions of each piece they have to make so everything fits together well in the end. We break up our team to work with the other sub-teams such as Electrical, End Effector, and Drive Train. Each of us draws the individual pieces for that sub-team and eventually we bring it all together to create the entire robot. Being on the Autodesk sub-team can lead to careers in architecture and multiple types of engineering. We may not be building the robot, but we have a huge part in creating it.
