Animation

The animation subgroup is one of a kind! We participate in a separate competition within FIRST in which they give us a theme, and we are required to come up with a 30 second animation about this theme. 30 seconds sounds pretty short huh? FALSE. It takes close to four weeks of around the clock work to create just a simple 30 seconds, but boy is it fun! (well at least we think so). Once we finish our wonderful animation we submit it to FIRST and wait for it to be judged at the competitions!

Unfortunately, there are a limited number of majors that 3d animation can lead to because it is a very specialized skill. A few of these majors are: 3d animation, 3d digital graphics (3DDG), and interactive multimedia (a new major that some colleges are now offering).

Some job areas having to do with 3D animation are: Video game art, animated movies, Graphic design in marketing, and instructional videos for use in medical fields.

This year’s captain is Marcus Kreitzer (this will be his fourth year as captain/co-captain).
